We work in different ways, both to support specific projects focused on refugees and women but we are also partnering with local ISPs and entrepreneurs to set up community-based internet services. These entrepreneurs receive the necessary hardware and connectivity equipment, enabling them to offer affordable internet access to their communities while providing free internet to local schools.
Our initiatives benefit women, students, refugees and underserved communities in regions with limited or no internet access. Local entrepreneurs also benefit by establishing sustainable internet businesses.
unconnected.org currently focuses on regions in Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia and Europe, with a specific focus this year on Kenya, Nigeria, Malawi, Colombia, Mexico, and the Philippines.
No, we do not sell Starlink hardware. It may come included in some of our packages but it is not being sold individually.
Yes, unconnected.org is a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the digital divide by connecting underserved communities to the internet.
If you are an internet service provider or entrepreneur legally allowed to resell connectivity in your country and have an underserved region you wish to connect, but your current providers don’t have suitable solutions, feel free to reach out to us. We can discuss how we might support you with equipment and backhaul to help you start your connectivity business.
No, unconnected.org does not compete with existing operators. We focus on areas with no existing connectivity, helping to connect new communities to the digital economy. We collaborate closely with operators and fiber providers, stimulating digital uptake in these communities. Our goal is to pave the way for larger operators to eventually offer more services in these regions.
It depends on the country and our local partners. We are technology agnostic and work with partners where we can procure solutions globally or on a larger scale to bring down the cost for implementation for our local partners.
